Dishing the Dirt explores our relationship with dirt, soil, mud, earth

I was rescuing blog posts from our sadly mangled database. This one from a few years ago was a great introduction to some dirty thinking!! Thanks Megan.

Dirt. Soil. Mud. Earth. Whatever you name it, I bet you probably haven't ever given it a second thought. It's just there, doing its "thing" whatever that may be. This complex layer of the Earth's crust, thin like an apple skin, is the stage on which the life of our planet is played out. Without it we would cease to exist. But, in the current climate of food insecurity, it is often overlooked as a vital resource.
