Orchard Planting at West Town Farm
The lovely people at West Town Farm are replanting one sloping field with apple trees. It will have been over 50 years since the original orchard was grubbed out and it is very exciting to think of trees returning! Andy, Jenny and Amber need your help though. If you are free on Friday or Saturday then do walk, cycle or, if you really need to, drive to West Town Farm, Ide and plant a tree!
"We'll have 120 apple trees to plant and we'd like to get as many volunteers as possible to help on one or both of those days. As part of our Environmental Stewardship scheme we're turning one of our fields into a new orchard. It's the field right at the top of the farmyard so those of you who know the farm probably know it. We'll supply lunch and we hope the two days will be fun, sociable and a great way to work off some of those Christmas calories! Everyone will be shown how to plant a tree; we'll provide spades but anyone who can bring their own for the day will be really appreciated." Amber @ West Town Farm
