Long Term Links with Schools
Published: November 30 2009 in Visits
If children understand where their food can come from and the journey that it goes on then they are more likely to make sustainable choices about what they eat. We feel that, whilst one off farm visits are valuable, if children build up a long term relationship with a farm then their understanding is far deeper. Both West Town Farm and The Barton are part of Natural England's Environmental Stewardship scheme. This gives payment for educational visits. Both farms are supporting long term links with schools and other groups giving a series of visits over time. Children can see seasonal change and engage in the changing farm activities. This section of the blog will record some of this activity.
