Food, Families and Farms

Love Local Food is working with The Flying Start Children's Centre on an exciting project involving healthy food, farms and families!
We have been visiting children's groups across central Exeter with seasonal vegetables from the farm using these for exploring, tasting and cooking, stories and play. We have made carrot soup by the saucepan load, printed colourful carrots (did you know that carrots were originally purple and white?) and told the tale of the House of Orange and the carrot!
Feedback from the sessions has been very positive “Interesting session – lots of relevant activity suiting the age group of the children. Very well organised. Thank you”. St David’s Toddler Group “Thank you so much. The kids loved all the activities and were engaged. It seemed to bring an air of calm to our sometimes chaotic group”. Stephanie Bull, Southernhay Toddler Group “Brilliant. Loved the soup making and the children loved eating it. Lovely carrot story. Really good to have you” Bec, Milkshake Toddler Group.
We very much hope that these introductory sessions will lead to longer term links and the opportunity for these groups to come out to local farms. Contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you would like the outreach team to visit you!
