Love Local Food - local food for Exeter

A new stop and community partnerships!

Published: February 26 2010 in Love Local Food

We have added a new stop to our Thursday route after requests from residents around Copplestone Drive which just off Cowley Bridge Road. Whilst the location is on a bus route into the city, shopping for vegetables is not easy. Love Local Food had run a play session at the Parent and Toddler group in January and had had a warm and enthusiastic reception to carrot soup making! The parents had asked about having the van stop and now it is happening. In the 20 minutes we were there over ten people came to visit. There was even a queue!

This is a really good example of how our education projects works with the van. Lesley Browne, from Devon and Cornwall Housing Association who manage some of the housing in the area, is in now looking at funding to allow visits to the Parent and Toddler sessions to become a monthly feature. Love Local Food is also working in partnership with Exeter's Flying Start Children's Centre. Weekly van stops, monthly play sessions and possibly community visits to the farms! These are some really positive connections!

So if you live in the Coppletone Drive area and are around on Thursdays between 11.30-11.50 come and look for the van just outside the Wadham House Community Room.
